The best way to predict your future is to create it–Abraham Lincoln
‘Leaders need to face reality‘
Timothy Myers, MD
We noted with interest the recent article in Radiology Business, by Cheryl Proval, ” Paul Berger, MD: ‘Leaders need to face reality’“.
Dr. Berger, a giant among entrepreneurial physicians and visionary in teleradiology, is calling for radiologists to provide leadership in radiology and imaging and work to ensure radiologists are a value add to the hospitals, clinicians and patients they serve.
Dr. Berger has developed an organization named Partners in the Imaging Enterprise (PIE), to work with radiologists, hospitals and hospital systems to promote the kind of change that is needed for the future. Dr. Berger wants to work with health systems and hospitals but ” in conjunction and with the acknowledgement and commitment of the radiologists …”.
It’s this kind of thinking and assistance that will help bring much-needed focus and clarity to radiologists and radiology groups struggling to find a new path to the future.
In the world of teleradiology, we believe that as discussed in our recent article, change must begin with the radiologists. Not a dredging up of the old way of doing things, but a new way for radiologists to think, act and interact with our colleagues–both physicians and administration.
