Tell us about yourself – who are you, how long have you been with Direct Radiology and what is your role in the company.
I have been with Direct Radiology for six great years. I was the first person hired exclusively to work in Radiologist Support when the department was created in the fall of 2012. The following spring, I took on the role as Radiologist Support Supervisor. I work the graveyard shift and am responsible for supervising a very busy STAT workflow, ensuring that we are meeting the needs of our customers, patients and radiologists. I also assist with the hiring/interview process, training, and scheduling within the Radiologist Support department.
Personally, I was born in Renton, WA but raised in beautiful Coeur d’ Alene, ID. I’ve been happily married to my husband Greg and we’ll be celebrating our five-year anniversary this October. We have two boys, Grayson who is three-and-a-half, Connor who is almost one and we are expecting our third baby in the spring. I graduated from Lewis & Clark State College with a Bachelor of Arts in Justice Studies and Social Science. We are currently in the process of building a new home which is projected to be complete in January 2019; a date we are anxiously awaiting.
What does Direct Radiology’s Radiologist Support team do and why is it so important?
Our Radiologist Support department is on the front lines. As the virtual face of Direct Radiology, our team manages the communication between our hospitals and our radiologists. Our goal is to make “telemedicine” as transparent as possible; we want our hospitals to feel like we are right there with them, 24/7/365, assisting them in providing the highest quality care possible to their patients. Our Radiologist Support team is also dedicated to our radiologists, providing the best support and communication possible with the imaging technologists and patients’ care providers, which enhances the radiologists’ ability to provide efficient, expedient, critical care.
As the supervisor for this group, what are some of the key things your team does to help set Direct Radiology apart?
One thing that sets us apart is that we are not just a department, we are a family. Each person has their own set of unique skills that they bring to the table and the combination of these skills is what makes us a very successful department. For the last several years I have been strongly involved in the hiring process and we’ve found that the ideal candidate not only has a strong medical background but also customer service experience and embraces a teamwork philosophy.
What do you love the most about your role?
I love the team of people that I work with. They are the best of the best. I also enjoy the challenge that significant growth brings. We are constantly brainstorming ways to make processes more efficient and I’m proud to be involved in all of the change that constantly takes place within the department.
You clearly rock at your job. What do you do outside of the office?
When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family; taking trips to the lake, road trips, camping, and any kind of travel. And although it doesn’t happen often enough, I enjoy date nights with my husband. We always enjoy trying new restaurants and new beer/wine.
